Pheromone Mating Disruption
We utilize pheromone mating disruption across our almond orchards as part of our regenerative pest management strategy. By releasing targeted, species-specific pheromones, we disrupt the mating cycles of damaging insects, naturally reducing pest populations. This sustainable approach helps lower pesticide use, protects beneficial species, and supports healthier, more resilient ecosystems.
Winter Sanitation
We practice winter sanitation across our farmlands by removing empty nut shells, spoiled fruit, and other byproducts from the ground and trees. For almonds specifically, this eliminates key food sources and shelter for Navel Orangeworm larvae, reducing pest pressure and limiting the number of damage-causing insects that emerge in the spring.
Owl Boxes
We have installed owl boxes across our ranches as part of our commitment to promoting natural, sustainable pest control. By encouraging barn owls to thrive in our orchards, we naturally reduce rodent populations and lower our reliance on pesticides.
Targeted Weed Control
We are deploying advanced weed management tools, including the WEEDit system, at select ranches to reduce overall herbicide use. WEEDit technology identifies the chlorophyll in living weeds, enabling herbicide to be applied only where it’s needed. This site-specific approach minimizes chemical use while supporting healthier soils and contributing to our long-term regenerative farming goals.
Smart Apply Precision Sprayers
Smart Apply technology is helping us take a more efficient, data-driven approach to orchard care. Using LiDAR sensors, Smart Apply maps tree canopies and adjusts spray delivery in real time, applying crop protection products only where necessary. This precision system reduces chemical use, protects air and water quality, and aligns with our commitment to sustainable farming practices.
